Yes, you may visit once per week by appointment. The purpose of Board & Train is to keep your pet focused on training.
Anytime!
Failing is not an option!
It ranges from 2 weeks to 4 weeks, depending on your dog’s temperament and your training goals. If you just want basic training, the length is usually 2 weeks. If you want more advanced commands and off-leash skills, or your dog needs more behavioral modification, it will be closer to 4 weeks.
NEVER. We only use positive reinforcement.
It’s up to you, if you want additional commands, tricks, or advanced training we can always add more at a discounted rate.
You may visit by appointment to see how we are doing, but your training will commence once we have completed your pup’s training. We will have you visit for an intensive hour of training at the completion of your dog’s stay. Then we will visit you at your home 1 week later to ensure our expertise and training passes to you.
It’s varied, but we are certified and have a minimum of 8 years under our belts – please see our “about us” page for more.
It always is dog-specific, as each dog has different behaviors and also may already know some commands. We prefer to evaluate your pup first in person for a nominal charge before suggesting a specific package.
Feel free to read through our google reviews.
Tough question! Most behaviors can be corrected. If a dog has inherent fear, it can be mitigated but cannot be completely eliminated. During our temperament test, we will be able to evaluate your pup and let you know.
For detailed information please visit our Board & Train page.
You have a choice between a crate or a suite.
We have trained a 15-year-old blind dog and a 13-year-old deaf dog – no dog is ever too old.
At Pretty Pretty Paws’ facility in Corona, Queens.
If you choose the daycare option, your pup can do half or full day free play with breaks for rest (must pass a temperament test). If you don’t choose the above, your pup will be walked at least twice per day.
We will design a customized dog-specific package, with your input. Available commands are listed under our Services page.
The Meet & Greet includes vaccination confirmation, review of history and health, nose to tail assessment, and an evaluation of your pup in our open-play environment with other dogs of different sizes and temperaments.
We use the positive method. Our training is safe, confidence-building, and free of confrontation, conflict and confusion. We teach a healthy level of clear guidance, direction, and enthusiastic praise. Through repetition and proper progression, excellence and proficiency is achieved.
We teach basic and advanced commands and manners to puppies, adolescents, and adults. We address nearly every behavioral issue and then some: barking, jumping, chewing, aggression, behavioral issues, pulling on leash, separation anxiety, sibling rivalry, territory marking, advanced obedience, off leash reliability, special needs (deaf, blind), and counter surfing. Lastly, we offer Psychiatric Service Dog training. For more information click here.
We now serve Manhattan, Queens, Nassau County and even Western Suffolk County, the Bronx, Brooklyn and Southern Connecticut. Visit our Board & Train page here!
Certified trainers undergo rigorous training in all areas of dog behavior. They study a variety of methods and are further tested to prove their knowledge. In addition, certified trainers shadow real-life trainers to further their studies in real-life situations. They learn not only how to train puppies and dogs, but are also taught how to properly instruct their owners on the commands and managing any problem behavior.
You can either drive to our facility at 103-20 Corona Ave., Flushing, NY 11368, take the train or LIRR to a nearby stop, or take us up on our pick up / drop off door-to-door service (small fee)!
